Despre noi

Founded in 1906, Real Sociedad de Tenis de La Magdalena is one of Spain’s oldest and most prestigious tennis clubs, located in the historic La Magdalena area of Santander. Originally established as the Sociedad de Lawn-Tennis de Santander, the club soon gained royal recognition, becoming “Real” after King Alfonso XIII accepted the honorary presidency.

Throughout its history, the club has been a central stage for Spanish tennis, regularly hosting national and international tournaments, including Spanish Championships, ATP Futures, Fed Cup and Davis Cup ties (notably Spain–USA in 2000). Members of the Spanish royal family were frequent participants and spectators in its early decades, reinforcing its elite status.

Beyond competition, the club has maintained a strong focus on player development and multi-sport culture, with tennis as its core discipline alongside hockey and other activities. Known for its tradition, organizational excellence, and role in Spanish tennis history, Real Sociedad de Tenis de La Magdalena remains a landmark institution combining heritage, competition, and high-level tennis development.
