About Us
Founded in 1877, Seabright Lawn Tennis & Cricket Club (SLT&CC) is one of the oldest tennis and cricket clubs in the United States. The Club is dedicated to promoting tennis and racquet sports for players of all ages and abilities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Tennis & Competitions
SLT&CC has a rich history of competitive play, hosting prestigious events such as the Prentice & Seabright Cups (international intercollegiate matches), the Rockaway Hunt Club Challenge Cup, and the USTA National Men’s 65+ Grass Tournament. The Club also runs family and junior competitions, including parent-child events and youth programs for ages 4–17, focusing on skill development, match play, and a love of the game.
Facilities & Heritage
The Club features grass, clay, and platform tennis courts, with a historic clubhouse designed by James Renwick, now a National Historic Landmark. The clubhouse also houses one of the country’s most extensive collections of tennis photographs.
Community & Family Focus
SLT&CC emphasizes family involvement, offering social events, junior programs, and community engagement that make tennis enjoyable for everyone. The Club balances a deep respect for tradition with opportunities for competitive and recreational play.
